How to reposition a Joomla 1.5.x module?

The default Joomla 1.5x module positions are:breadcrumb, footer, left, right, syndicate, top, user1, user2, user3, user4, and sitename is a Joomla variable. It is possible that the template you have installed doesn't have positions for all these modules.

First of all you need to know the names of the modules that have positions, different from the default ones, and the names of corresponding modules in the template. Let us take the Laptop Joomla template as an example:

Laptop template modules

Note that first you need to have your template installed and marked as default. For more information please check our tutorial How to install a Joomal template?.

  1. We notice that here user21 is an additional position, different from the Joomla default ones. Actually this is the login form, which is the Joomla Login Form module. To dispaly all Joomla modules, login to your Joomla Admin panel at:

    http://yourdomain.com/administrator/

    Admin panel

    Choose Extensions > Module Manager:

Admin panel - Module Manager menu

All the Joomla modules are listed. Find out the Login Form module link and click on it:

    Admin panel - modules

  2. The default position of the Login Form module is left. We need to change it to user21 to fit the template:

Note that the Position drop-down menu is writable - you can type in it! Type user21, then click on the Save button.

Now your login form must appear at the right place in the template. Check this at:
